Peter and I, Joan Bruce-Girdlestone. J.P. are now a couple of "old timers", and this is a brief profile of who we are in our day to day lives, apart from dogs. However it is quite IMPOSSIBLE for us to separate ourselves from dogs, cats and every other type of animal and bird that lives and breathes, I also have a passion for planning and creating exhibition gardens, add to that a lifelong love of classical music and ballet and our lives are full. However we live simple but busy lives here in Bowral on the Southern Highlands and have been actively involved in the Meals On Wheels Programme for 23 years as well as in our church community. I am a compulsive gardener myself and maintain a large garden. Add to all this 4 collies, 4 toy poodles, 2 birman cats, a 40 year old galah named Rossie, plus an aviary of parrots down the back. There are also 4 adult children, 10 grandchildren and almost 7 great grandchildren, the eldest of which is almost 19,....guess that means we must be really getting old, but just do not often have the time to be BORED! Peter and I and are both well steeped in Collie history. PETER bred 3 Champions under the prefix "LEOFRIC" and was part of the inaugural team which created and administered the ILLAWARRA COLLIE AND SHETLAND SHEEPDOG CLUB in 1972. He was the President of this club for 8 years and is now a Life Member. We are both united in our daily lives and ongoing love and interest in the COLLIE ROUGH. Under NEWLINDEN we are determined to give it another go with the beautiful collies that are now in our possession.
