Update - 25th May 2011

Rose has arrived safe & sound from Auckland.  Soooooo many thanks to Fran.  We just adore our new baby.  Graham has chosen the name Rose as it has special significance to him.   A page for Rose will be added once her registration with the New Zealand Kennel Club has been finalised.

New photos added to Keira's page - Many thanks Megs for sending them to me.

Update - 16th May 2011

We are adding a beautiful new Skyewood baby to the family.

Many thanks to Fran for entrusting another precious pup to us.  Puppy will soon have her own page (& hopefully a name, though Graham is taking his time choosing 'the right' one).

Previous News

Saffy & Zorro's pups were delivered by c-section on

Friday 13th November 2009.

Saffy had 10 precious pups - 7 boys & 3 girls.   Sadly one boy was very small and despite all efforts we lost him early the next day - it was heartbreaking.  Saffy was a fantastic Mummy to her beautiful babes.

Graham & I had to say a heartbreaking & devastating good-bye to our beautiful pup Rocky on the 26th March 2010.  Please visit Rocky's page to see some photos of him.  Rocky lives on through the spirit of his Sisters - Grace, Keira & Moira and his Brothers, Ramius, Milton, Brenin, Elim & Shadow.  We will love & miss him forever.

All of the Pups have wonderful homes and have become loved & adored members of their new families.  Please visit the 'Zorro Litter' page to see photos of the pups.

Jacqui Stein of Leokings Leonbergers in Ireland very generously agreed to send me some frozen semen collected from her incredibly handsome stud dog - Irish Champion Bavaruki Excalibur - known to all as Zorro.  This stunning dog has brought exciting new genetics to the limited breeding lines here in Australia.  He is a beautiful example of the breed and has excellent health results.  Zorro is shown regularly & consistently receives an 'Excellent' grade from European Judges.

Please visit Jacqui's website for further information & photographs of Zorro.   http://www.leokings.com/zorro.htm

Saffy was mated by transcervical AI and safely delivered 10 beautiful pups.  Huge kudos & thanks to Dr Stuart Mason & the entire team at Monash Vet Clinic for their efforts to help make this happen.  We believe this to be an Australian first as we know of no other prior successful Leonberger AI's using frozen semen.  What a way to make breed history !!!

I can't thank Jacqui enough for her support & encouragement with this planned mating.

Extra special thanks to my incredibly supportive partner Graham for helping to make this dream come true.

We are also very grateful to Keith & Di Anderson at CRYO GENES for their professional assistance & excellent service with handling all of the Import process and AQIS permits & clearance to safely transport Zorro's frozen semen to Australia for secure storage.

If you need assistance with the International movement of frozen canine semen do not hesitate to consider using CRYO GENES - http://www.cryogenes.com.au/

Unique ancestors of 802, COI (Coefficient of Inbreeding) 40 generations 26%, 10 generations 5.66%, 5 generations 0%.  For an explanation of COI please visit the Leonberger Database http://www.leonberger-database.com/explanation%20COI.htm
